You've probably gotten these surveys through email, Facebook, and other social networking tools, right? Well, after going through a life-changing event this past year, I'd like to share with you (and my family) what makes me happy.
My happy-life mantra...Life is Good!
My favorite stress buster is...take a few deep breaths and go for a walk.
The life lessons I want to pass on to my kids are...be positive, laugh at your mistakes, and if someone or something is bothering you - learn to let it go! Life is too short to stress over the little things.
When I want to indulge, I eat...dark chocolate!! This past week I've had such a terrible craving for chocolate that I dug into my daughter's wedding cupcakes that are frozen for their 1st anniversary! Yikes! Guess she better take them back with her next time they come home!
When I can't make it to the gym, I work out by...simply going for a long walk! Walking is good for your bone health no matter what age you are! Did you know when bone density gets regular weight-bearing exercise (such as walking), the body responds by depositing more mineral in the bones (think calcium and bone health), especially the bones of the legs, hips and spine. Conversely, a lack of regular exercise accelerates the loss of bone mass.
My favorite body part is...Everything! Overall Good Health!! or at least it appears I have good health because I passed all 5 categories of Swanson's Wellness Program. For those who know me well are probably finding this hard to believe, but I don't have high Cholesterol, high blood pressure and I don't smoke. I walk reguarly and fell in the approved range for weight and body fat. Go Me!
Three beauty items I can't live without...Clinique, Swanson's Vitamin E Cream (paraban free - gotta have Good Skin Health) and my mascara!! I have deep-set eyes and after applying mascara, my daughter will say, "much better" Everyone has at least one daughter or friend who is their fashion critic!
The food I try not to pick off my kids' plate is...since I have an empty nest, this is a tough one....actually, our girls always ate everything on their plate. And because we've had a huge garden every year, they have had natural organic foods as soon as they started eating solid food!
My secret talent...Canning fresh organic veggies from our garden...Pickles, Relish, Salsa, Diced Tomatoes, Pickled Beets and Pickled Carrots too. They don't last long in my pantry though, as one daughter loves the pickles and the other loves the salsa - actually they both love salsa....everyone loves salsa!
Right now I'm reading..."Eat, Pray, Love"...I haven't finished the book yet and I've already seen the movie! I actually took a break from this book, and read "The Help" which is very well written & I would highly recommend it.
The TV show I never miss is...Survivor! There is always something to learn from this show that can be applied in everyday life!
