Tis the season....right?

Memorial day, National Burger Month and grilling season....Oh my!

With Memorial day fast approaching and it being National Burger Month, it's getting harder and harder to maintain weight loss.  Since September of last year I've lost about 20 lbs and would like to lose a few more before summer, but I'm lacking the motivation. Our weather here in North Dakota has been a little soggy the last few weeks but looks to be turning around. When the weather's nice outside I'm inspired to do a little grilling. I love to grill and Tis the season right?

I think this year I'll mix it up a little and try some healthier options like turkey or bison burgers. These lower fat options are better for healthy cholesterol support, as well as blood pressure support for those who are concerned with overall heart health.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of ground turkey or bison
  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt (optional- dry soup mix can be salty)

Directions:

  • First preheat grill to medium to high heat
  • In large bowl, combine ground turkey or bison, dry soup mix and water. Season with pepper (salt optional). Mix all ingredients together and form 4-5 patties.
  • Place patties on grill and grill on each side 5-10 minutes or until well done.  Don't forget to wash your hands with some all natural hand soap after handling raw meat to avoid spreading bacteria.

Enjoy with a side of your choice. Now maybe a little walk after dinner to get the metabolism running. Here's to your good health!
