5 Ways to Keep Your Food Safe

Saturday, February 11, 2012 by Health Tips
FoodDaily Health Tips update for February 11:
  1. Do wash all the produce. Even if you’re buying organic fruits and vegetables, gently wash each item.
  2. Do use dedicated cutting boards for produce and a separate one for meat. Yes, it means more dirty dishes, but you’ll spare yourself any cross-contamination.
  3. Do make sure your refrigerator is set at 40 degrees and keep your freezer at zero degrees for proper food storage.
  4. Do divide leftovers into smaller containers before refrigerating them so the food cools faster.
  5. Do wash your hands in warm soapy water for at least 20 seconds after handling food.
