What Is The Difference Between DHQ and L-glutamine?

Tuesday, April 19, 2011 by Vitamins and Supplements FAQs

L-glutamine and DHQ (Dihydroquercetin) are both very useful for energizing muscle and muscle recovery.  Additionally both products are wonderful as far as antioxidant potential – glutamine aids in your body’s ability to produce glutathione, and DHQ is also very active with scavenging free radicals. In terms of antioxidant potential, as well as energizing muscle and helping with muscle recovery, these two nutrients do have similar effects, so it would be fine to use one or the other, but not necessarily both.  One difference is that the DHQ—with how bioavailable it is and the fact that it is able to be useful at the cellular level—would take a much lower amount potency-wise (50 mg 2 or 3 times a day) to be active as an antioxidant and also to support muscle health. In comparison, we commonly see people using glutamine in excess of 5, even 10 grams to support muscle health and antioxidant activity.
